“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corn cribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

A few days ago we mentioned To Kill a Mockingbird as excellent summer reading for book-loving cats. As I write, I’m also enjoying the mockingbirds, going crazy with song as the world teeters towards the solstice. Plain on the outside, music on the inside. What’s not to like? Hope you’re enjoying the long summer days, too. (Hat tip to Elizabeth Amrien for the quote.)
